First aid training
Many people never come across an injured person, but if you coach a contact sport it is very likely that a youngster will suffer a fall or bump that hurts enough to seek attention
It is VERY inadvisable to do anything unless you are qualified to do so - and in most cases that means a first aid qualification
Each team should have someone with it that can administer first aid - albeit that a good firstaider knows the major rule: Do as little as necessary and refer for a professional view
If you come across something in a street you can walk away if you don't feel competent. In school players or parents will expect some definitive action
The RFU provides guidance and this can be obtained on its website's Medical and First Aid Provision pages
